JOBS FOR 18 YEAR OLDS IN 2010 – WILL THERE BE ANY?
Whether you are looking for jobs for 18 year old high school students or graduates, 2010 seems like it is going to be another tough one. The economy is stagnant and although there are a couple signs of things getting better, whether it will translate into new jobs has yet to be seen.
This Christmas is proving to be much like last Christmas; everyone is holding on to their wallets and spending is down. Later in January we will find out just how bad things were this holiday season and we will find out if any more retailers declare bankruptcy like they did last year.
President Obama is now in office and that is not good for anyone seeking jobs. He seems to have a blatant disrespect for small businesses as he is raising taxes on anyone that makes more than $250,000. What that does is hit many small businesses right in the pocketbook and forces them to lay off more workers or not hire any new ones.
Small businesses are the backbone of our country and many jobs for 18 year olds can be found at these types of companies. Raising taxes on them is only going to raise unemployment and force many smaller businesses to give up and shut down. If you are an older teenager or one who will be graduating high school, it is going to be a difficult year for you in the job arena. Hopefully I will be wrong but that is what it looks like now.
Many teenagers get their summer and winter jobs at small Mom and Pop businesses and if taxes are raised for them, they are not going to be able to hire any extra work. Many teens have been looking for jobs since last summer and still haven’t found anything. This is very sad as young workers want to get hired and start earning some extra spending money.
2010 may be another tough year for anyone searching for jobs for 18 year olds or jobs for 19 year olds andĀ if you are in that group, just keep looking. If you give up you have zero chance of finding a job so never give up. Your best option may be to find work on or through the Internet. You may also be able to figure out some sort of business on your own where you take advantage of your skills and try to sell your services. Whatever you do, don’t ever give up, keep your chin held high, and keep interviewing!
